Help:Description

[edit]

Hi Unite together. I see you make the Help:Description page traslatable, but this proposal was rejected many times. For example read Help talk:Description#Change to translatable page? or Help talk:Description#Make translatable. So, is there a reason why you did it? Thanks β16 - (talk) 07:59, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Yes, indeed there is a reason. For most of the pages, "translatable page" having been working very, very well. This is a fast and convenient way to let more and more users using different languages translate a page into different languages. However, as for this particularly important page, surprisingly we didn’t implement this convenient tool. Whoever wants to translate it has to create a new page from scratch. What’s more, look at the template placed atop the page, most of links are red, showing that the page aren’t available in those languages. Before someone would have interest to create those translations, those red links are nearly of no use. As for the question "each language has its own rules and tradition", it’s perfectly fine to not strictly translate from the original English version, and replace those non-translated texts with more appropriate rules for a particular language. So every time the English version is updated, the language-specific part is blanked out. It's a crazy specification. Think a little more critically. Afaz (talk) 14:12, 24 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Verbes en français

[edit]

Bonjour Unite together !

— Envlh (talk) 12:23, 6 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Plase stop adding statements on Codi INE that are incorrect or nonsense

[edit]

Hi Ikan Please stop adding statements about INE code (P772) that are nonsense or just erroneous. In any case, you should provide a reference - but you have not. Thank you! Quelet (talk) 11:42, 15 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

migrating per WikiProject Deprecate P642

[edit]

Not good, items lost instance of (P31). In Czech Republic (Q213) I found about 5 affected items, but in world migt be many more. JAn Dudík (talk) 12:49, 22 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I'm thrilled to discover someone besides me is trying to use the P642 migration process I created, and I'm eager to figure out what went wrong with your batch edit. Instead of replacing the "of" qualifier, the main property of each statement was replaced, which the scripts should not do. Do you remember what command you ran? Which version of the script did you use (Python or PowerShell), and did you modify it in some way? Thanks!! Swpb (talk) 14:34, 23 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Ikan: Sorry to bother (this is the last time I will), but your response to this would help me a lot. Swpb (talk) 16:44, 28 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Toki Pona

[edit]

I am seeing Toki Pona links showing up. Was the project recently approved and merged in? And if so I would like to try to translate Shinto shrine and Buddhist temple names into Toki Pona, so are there any conventions on Hepburn to Toki Pona? Immanuelle (talk) 00:45, 28 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

That's true. Feel free to translate new articles there, whereas I don't know answer to your question. 🐠 formerly U.T. 00:50, 28 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
