LintErrors in Wikidata weekly summary #610

[edit]

Again the Wikidata weekly summary creates LintErrors in the German Wikipedia de:Spezial:LintErrors/wikilink-in-extlink
This time it seems to be related to the use of template LangSwitch which does not exist in de.wikipedia --At40mha (talk) 19:37, 8 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

Hi there,

Regarding that edit, in which you removed the rfA stating that it "already got mentioned in the past issue", what was actually mentioned was the opening of the rfA, while the one you undid was the closure. Regards, Esteban16 (talk) 13:17, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Query for a weekly summary

[edit]

Hi Mohammed! I'd like to propose a query (this one) for a weekly summary, but due to it's size I'm unable to use the URL shortener to just have a short link to point to. Would there be another way to have it included in the summary? Thank you! --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 19:27, 15 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hey Jahl. You can use Query-Chest. Best! -Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 08:58, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Problem with translatable weekly summary

[edit]

Hi Mohammed, there seems to be a problem with the latest weekly summary. All user talk pages include the translate tags and are therefore listed at Special:PageTranslation. See User talk:-Zest for an example. --Ameisenigel (talk) 16:03, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Oh no :(
I forgot to removed the translation tags when I was transferring the text from Wikidata to MassMessage. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. -Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 12:01, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Translations of wikidata weekly summary

[edit]

Hello, Mohammed Abdulai, thanks for your contributes of weekly summary. But when I translating the current issue, it`s hard for me to translate such a long paragraph. Next time when you preparing the page for translation, can you put less contents between translate lables? Thanks. --ChasingAir (talk) 13:04, 3 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for reaching out @ChasingAir and also for helping out with the translations. Certainly, I can make it easier for you by breaking up the paragraphs into smaller chunks. Pinging my colleague @Danny Benjafield (WMDE) who occasionally prepares the newsletter too, so he's in the know. -Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 11:56, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata MOOC certification

[edit]

Hi Mohammed, I completed the Wikidata MOOC, but course certificate does not show up in my WikiLearn profile. Can you help? Thanks --Stefan Karl (talk) 21:11, 21 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Stefan,
Absolutely, you can get a certificate! I disabled the platform’s local certificate option because the ones we create outside the platform look much better. Please message me privately with your full name. If you’d like a t-shirt as well, kindly include your address.
Congratulations on completing the course! 🎉 -Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 15:57, 22 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

Please fix these errors lik I did here de:Spezial:Diff/256114439 You should never brake inlinetags, the beginning and end of the tags must stay in one line. Lómelinde (talk) 16:24, 18 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Anubis

[edit]

Looks like the foundation have recently put Anubis (Q134301689) anti-bot software on Wikibase cloud and XTools. I couldn't find any mention of this on Wikidata. Although I recently heard there was problems with scrapers for AI. Maybe it's worth mentioning in the Weekly update? Infrastruktur (talk) 20:59, 9 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for pointing this out. Wikibase Cloud implemented this measure to prevent site outages caused by bot traffic. However, we didn’t communicate it widely so I’ll make sure to include it in the next summary. (the Wikibase.Cloud infrastructure is run by us BTW, not the WMF) and the relevant ticket is T399851.
As for XTools, I believe the corresponding ticket is T400229. -Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 08:09, 10 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Help with Wikidata Merging

[edit]

Hi Mohammed,

I hope you are doing well. I wanted to ask for your help regarding some duplicate items I created. While working on a batch, I re-ran the same names using different QuickStatements, which resulted in multiple duplicates. I attempted to merge the items, but I don’t see the option to merge them on Wikidata. Could you please advise on the best way to handle these duplicates or assist with merging them?

Hi @CaliBen, since there aren't many Items, you can merge them manually. To do this:
  • Go to your Preferences, then to the Gadgets section.
  • Enable the "Merge" gadget.
  • After enabling it, you'll find the merge tool under the "Tools" menu on any item page.
If you run into any issues or the tool doesn't appear, please let me know. — Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 11:13, 17 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
