Europeana.eu

[edit]

Hi, could you have a look at phab:T404347? Europeana.eu servers are getting millions of invalid requests and SomeRandomDeveloper is suspecting it might have something to do with your code. Samoasambia 15:10, 11 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi, just to update on this matter: The issue was traced to a different project hosted on WMCS, so no further action is required. SomeRandomDeveloper (talk) 20:06, 12 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Samoasambia, SomeRandomDeveloper: ha, you found my ancient broken data ingestion code for Europeana. Haven't worked with them for years. Multichill (talk) 09:36, 20 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi, @Multichill! I am part of the IDEA wikiproject, which works on items related to the archaeological site Dura-Europos, and we noticed that some of these items have been given location-->Yale University Art Gallery statements by BotMultichill or BotMultichillT. We wanted to thank you for adding missing statements! We have been using the collection property (as a main statement and a qualifier for inventory number statements) to associate items with the Yale University Art Gallery and have been adding location-->New Haven statements. We wanted to ask whether you think it makes much difference to give the museum name or the city as values for the location property? Perhaps it would be more correct for us to have located in the administrative territorial entity-->New Haven statements and reserve location statements for the institution? Thanks again, Emily Helm Hall (talk) 12:46, 19 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Emily Helm Hall: Yale University Art Gallery (Q1568434) is located in New Haven (Q49145). Most specific location (Yale University Art Gallery (Q1568434)). Also adding located in the administrative territorial entity (P131) is redundant and should be avoided for movable objects.
location (P276) & collection (P195) can often be the same, but have different meaning. See for example Q219831#P276 & Q219831#P195. Multichill (talk) 09:35, 20 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

ULAN

[edit]

Hi, adding all ULAN alternative names as WD aliases is just cluttering the WD items. In e.g. Salomon van Ruysdael (Q247005), 90 % of aliases are unused or just typographical variants. Most of them should be removed. — Draceane talkcontrib. 18:39, 22 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

DVIDS Video ID

Hi! I have created a new proposal for DVIDS Video ID, I would like to have your opinion :) Cheers, Don-vip (talk) 15:51, 21 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Painting oddity

[edit]

Hi, hope you're having a good holiday break! I've just come across Portrait of a Gentleman (Q118984667) is described at [1], which is where your bot imported it from, but the V&A website says different at [2] - which agrees with the label on display next to it. Any ideas what's happened here? Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 19:20, 27 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello Multichill, noticing this edit, I was wondering, if this file would be an option to replace it and in the meantime labelling the shelter or orphanage for less fortunate children in Amsterdam (1828–1940) here. Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 05:23, 30 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
