Huh? "main" and "property" vs. "other" namespaces?
[edit]Can you please give examples and / or links to definitions of data in "main," "property" and "other" namespaces?
For example:
- What's a "namespace" in this context?
- What namespaces are there that are relevant to this other than "main" and "property"?

- @DavidMCEddy: The main namespace is the namespace which holds Wikidata items, the actual content. Other namespaces include the Wikidata: and Wikidata talk: namespace. You can determine a page's namespace by looking at the title. "Wikidata:Project chat" is in the "Wikidata" namespace. "User:DavidMCEddy" is in the "User" namespace. Q1 is in the main namespace. Importing data from OpenStreetMap
[edit]I have seen that some data is brought from OpenStreetMap (OSM) into wikidata. Given that OSM data after 2012 is licensed with the Open Data Commons OpenDatabaseLicense (ODbL), and data created until the OSM license change in 2012 is additionally (or only, if creator denied license change) available with a CC-BY-SA 2.0 license, stating that this data is CC0 would be misleading, at least in the European Union, with the database protection sui generis law (even facts may not be extracted from a database).
- What is the official wikidata policy with regard to including data from OpenStreetMap?
- What should I do when I find insufficiently attributed (to OSM) data in wikidata?
- Is there suggested / best practice wikidata tagging (properties / relationships) to state that a dataset is licensed ODbL and who is the licensor?

Missing information about using and linking to copyrighted material
[edit]This page appears to be missing a link to, or text about, using and linking to copyrighted material. See this en.WP page for some text that could be copied or adapted.
There are links to freely downloadable copies of copyrighted works in some Wikidata entries, for example Q4004427. According to the en.WP copyright policy page, that could be a violation of US law. Before deleting the links, it would be useful for me to have a policy page to point to. Maybe I'm just not finding it.
There should also be a link to Wikidata's copyright policy from Wikidata:List_of_policies_and_guidelines. Jonesey95 (talk) 18:43, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

Capitalize "main"?
[edit]In my understanding, by default Wikimedia projects use American English, which is quite flexible (in my understanding) regarding capitalization. I would suggest capitalizing the "main" namespace, to mark the beginning of the list, and visually incorporating "main" as one part of the list, alongside "Property", "Lexeme", and "EntitySchema" namespaces. Personally, I skipped multiple times the main namespace, as it looked different from the other entries on the list. So I propose the following change to the first sentence: "All structured data from the Main, Property, Lexeme, and EntitySchema namespaces is available under the Creative Commons CC0 License".
