Towards a digital commons of public art

This project, led by Maison MONA, aims to enrich the available open data relating to public art.

About Maison MONA

[edit]

Maison MONA is an inclusive and dynamic non-profit organization that values accessibility, diversity and collective dialogue. Its mission is to invite the public to engage with art, by creating a common space to interact where senses and sensations can resonate.

Its main project is a free mobile application that promotes the exploration of art and cultural spaces in Montreal. The app transforms the discovery of artworks into a treasure hunt, showcasing the artists and public art that shape Montreal's public space.

Maison MONA is also home to a database for hundreds of artists and more than a thousand works of public art in Quebec.

Goals

[edit]
    1. Facilitate the creation of an entity ID (Q-item) and the associated properties for selected artists and artwork in the database.
    2. Facilitate the creation of entries in the MONA database for selected artists and artwork based on existing Wikidata information.
